The treks to the boss often drag on too long. And some of the bosses are a pain, like icicle biggie who keeps putting out your fires so you can't melee it. Or fields of ruin boss going immune every single 20% doing the exact same mechanic each time. Like just tedious stuff that increases time spent without presenting much of a challenge.

But honestly, I would probably do them more if people were doing them more. I think two things ensure they are pretty dead right now:

1) No more consistent dailies because they merged the DRM dailies into cycling IBS dailies. (So why bother if you are the "do a few of these for daily bonus" type of player.)

2) There is no DRM section in LFG. I see people use IBS > Champions to list it, but then they have to go into map chat and advertise it. Cause who is going to think to look in IBS > Champions to find listings for DRMs. They really need a dedicated LFG section like strikes and fractals have.

I did DRMs a lot when they first came out, then I reached a point where I'd finished everything I wanted to do with them and I haven't had many reasons to go back since. For me it's the same with all areas of the game, I don't have time to do a whole list of things on a regular basis and don't care about farming gold so I do what I want or what I want the rewards from and don't play other stuff until I have a reason to.

Picked rewards and other for my choices.  Terrible rewards speak for themselves.    Other.... cause I find them extremely boring.  Most instanced content like this are dull and very repetitive, would rather spend my limited time doing something fun.   Did the achievs I wanted with them, will never go back.

Simply put: they're nothing special.

They're just open-world events enclosed inside an instance. Nothing more. If I wanted open-world events, I'll just play open-world events! Of course, the DRMs,, I feel, were a temporary solution since at that time the entire world was swept up in the height of covid19.

Reward

I can solo all of them with 3/3 CM, the drop just doesn't justify the amount of time I have to spend in it. Is challenging enough as solo to make kind of fun but if you have one more person than it makes all of the fights kitten easy, it doesn't scale well which makes it quite boring when you play with friends.

I went with the pre events being too long, namely the escorts, and the rewards are too small to justify escorts that are so long. I feel and know it's like to this as filler content to feel more substantial, but it just feels like Single Player game filler. Beyond that the list lengthens;

  • CMs can't be done in PuGs, only statics, it's not that it's too hard, it's that CMless is boring, solo is boring
  • CMs are the only thing that adds variety to them, and again, can only be accessed in statics
  • Related dailies now randomized, preventing them from actually getting publics filled
  • The buffs within only help other DRMs, so there isn't reason to do them for other content, other than themselves
  • The travel sections should just be removed, they're the primary reason people seem to AFK since you can rush everything else before, and the most obvious flag that says it's filler content

A lot of this wouldn't be a problem if they were designed with replay in mind, as any that it has isn't exactly accessible or rewarding.  I personally don't consider having to collect 5 people into a party, or whatever the number is since I never see more than 3 other people in a map, to uncoordinatedly repeat CMs as anything close to accessible replay-ability.

DRMs suck because everything that has to be done to get some semblance of enjoyment/reward out of them requires those that play them to do all the work to get them to that point. Basically we have to facilitate what Anet should have programmed in, in the first place; Consistent Dailies, Reconnecting, Engaging Escorts(as opposed to A - B, aka 10+ minutes wasted), Monster Variety, CMs in PuGs, and a dedicated LFG. We have to set all this up ourselves. We have to set up statics, and coordinate them to bypass the long, boring sections that no amount of CMs can make more interesting.

The form factor just doesn't work. It could work, but they'd actually have to fix the mistakes they've made over time, an easy example being them tossing the DRM dailies into the Icebrood daily rotation table. I would happily do DRMs if it told me which people are all doing and gave me extra for doing so, but as it stands, I just don't feel like doing more facilitation work than is required by kittening dungeons. Dungeons are more accessible than repeat DRMs.

I only do private runs when it's part of dailies for the deldrimor marks and to kill time. The rewards are lacking, the missions are boring, the pre events are boring and tedious, and going public scales up the enemies way too much...

it isn't a very intuitive name for the category.  "champions" makes it sound like someone is just running around the maps fighting gold ranked monsters.

Champions is the living world episode were every drm was released tho so they very much fit into that one.
