Hardest profession to master?

What is the hardest profession to master, with the most steep learning curve, that is really good in PvP? I want it to be more “ranged”, so I was reading and I got the Mesmer, elementalist, and engineer as my top 3 picks. I want a profession that theirs clear cut skill level between very bad-bad-good-great-really great players. This would be for pvp more so.

Engi is hard, mesmer and ele, Rev and Thief are pretty hard too

EDIT: you will see the lvl between the players at every class

What class would you say is the “least” (for lack of better term) strongest out of those 3 for pvp (ele, Mesmer, engi)

I would say mesmer is the least strongest but I think engi is the hardest of them, but there are all pretty close, ele is pretty hard too, but things like fireweaver are pretty ezmode

The hardest to master class is the class that you hate to play the most.

So i'd not recommend you to pick a class based on how hard or easy it is to play/"master". There is no objective answer anyway and the skill ceiling is quite high in general. No need to worry about hitting your head early on.

Just try whatever looks interesting to you and stick with whatever end up being the most fun to play.

Classes have fundamentally different designs. The design you like the least, will be the hardest for you to master.

People often will tell you it's ele because they are bad at memorizing skills. Others can only be good at ele, because they re bad at managing healing cooldowns and ele carries that incapability hard.

Tbh steep learning curve is never always truely equal to hard to master.

in my experience of competition level knowledge things such as- ez to pick us, general learning speed and the actual difficulty are all different quantifiers-

a good example is how ele is a slightly hard to pick class but playing for weaver is really just chill and keep clicking buttons- a fairly ez thing to do.

keeping this in mind I would just recommend whatever class u enjoy and if you find it challenging then gl to you I guess

edit: I feel these 3 things I mentioned are the most important measuring for these things ex. of using to assess a spec- staff thief in pve 1.)hard to pick up cuz it’s thief mechanics 2.) fast learning pace due to repetitiveness 3.) hard to master as there is a big difference with a player in raids with vast game knowledge compared to without

Of all the classes you've listed

you only have 2 really ranged options

fresh air for ele and a version of 1 shot for each mesmer spec.

I consider both builds are not spammable, they can do really well in the right match up, as they could be borderline impossible to play in the wrong one.

I'm a not a mesmer specialist but fresh air struggles against anything that can keep up with your mobility, teleporting classes mainly, like rev, thief and mesmer and condi builds too, but condi ones you can avoid. So if a player of the same skill level as you is playing one of those classe you gonna have a really hard time.

Engineer (mostly holo) is not a ranged spec (unless you play condi, that ppl usually dont, cuz power performs fairly better), it's in the best case scenario a close-mid range build. Of all classes holo has been A to S tier since forever, and it's the one that suffer the least with nerfs, so personally is a class I'd pick for long term investment.

Everything has a lot of depth that only the most seasoned players can find and use consistently for themselves. Because Scourge is OP right not doesn't mean it can't have any depth, if the class was actually balanced it would mean having to get good with the latter of things that come along it.

Right now it's just braindead because most of the skill values/functions are just busted altogether.

Just as hard, period

Ere, not really. With that set up, Most of the time cnd steal and bs will kill down the person. Though if that fails then things become interesting

90% of GW2 forum citizen: "the hardest is the one I play...."

1) Taking the bias out of the way: the easiest professions are those that can naturally be played without prior knowledge of gear, traits and enemy, thus : Necromancer , of all classes it requires the least amount of input from a new player.
2) Professions with access to defensive mechanics that require no specific setup, traits, gear to be used. These mechanics are available for "free" regardless of what weapon or utility you use: MesmerGuardian

3) The following have access to forms of sustain that do not necessitate any investment in healing power and can easily become tanky/bruiser regardless of the stats used: Ranger - Thief - Warrior -Engineer -Revenant

4) Lastly the hardest profession in GW2 , requires healing power , vitality investement to be viable at bare min, virtually unplayable without heavy stat investment in vitality or toughness. For the last couple of years , the viability of this class has been linked to focus , playing without focus requires a level of skill and commitment in this game that is unheard from other professions.
